İş Bankasi General Directorate Complex

Location: İstanbul, Turkey

Area: 250000m²

Project Date: 1993

İs Bankasi General Directorate bought the site from Şise Cam Factories General Directorate. Project prepared in 1988 has been changed in accordance with the changes in building laws and demands of the bank, 1993. Application project was prepared and building was constructed without supervision of architects.

The project was chosen in 1988, in the limited competition for Turkiye Şişe Cam Factories General Directorate After the site was bought by İş Bankası, the project has undergone some changes. In 1993, Bank general directorate, decided that it would be more economical to build two small and one big tower instead of the twin towers of the 1988 project. This way in the new composition the only high rise building would be the bank general directorate and it would be detached from the other towers and dominate over them.

Iş Bankası General Directorate was left on Buyukdere Avenue, at the corner of the entrance way to the Second Bosphorus Bridge, a spot where it could be perceived easily from every direction. After the studies about the location of the two rental towers, within the composition and about their form, the two towers were placed close to each other, Bosphorus. High blocks are located on a three storey horizontal foundation. A large part of this platform includes central branch of the bank, personnel entrance, meeting hall for 750 people, exhibition hall and other services. A small shopping unit is organized on ground floor and first basement floor.
Although the glass cladding had been the initial demand of Turkiye Şişe Cam Factories General Directorate, a different façade texture was designed for the new project.
